BITNET We present a morpho-syntactic analyzer for French which is capable of automatically detecting and of correcting (automatically or with user help) spelling mistakes, agreement errors and certain frequently encountered syntactic errors. Emphasizing the specific language knowledge that is used, we describe the major sub-tasks of this analyzer: word categorization by dictionary look-up and spelling correction, construction of a parse tree or of a forest of parse trees, correction of syntactic and morphological errors by processing the parse tree. The spelling corrector module is designed to help correct the spelling mistakes of a French novice, as opposed to those of an experienced typist. The syntax analysis module is driven by an empirical grammar for French and is based on the work of Tomita. The presentation is based on the design and implementation of a prototype of the system which is written in Lisp for the Macintosh computer.

A way to improve outputs produced by automatic speech recognition (ASR) systems isto integrate additional linguistic knowledge. Our research in this eld focuses on two aspects:morpho-syntactic information and thematic adaptation. In the rst part, we propose a new mode of integration of parts of speech in a post-processingstage of speech decoding. To do this, we tag N-best sentenc...

Disfluency is the first phenomenon one has to address when processing spontaneous speech. Efficient systems combining transcription-based and signal-based cues have been created for English. These systems generally use supervised machine learning models, trained over large annotated datasets combining signal and transcription. As for other languages, including French, the situation is complicat...

Comparison of the high-frequency morpho-syntactic structures of cochlear implant children and children with normal hearing aged 4-6 years
Introduction: Children with cochlear implants experience problems at all language domains, and have more problems in morpho-syntactic skills than others domains. Considering the importance of morphology and syntax in developing of communication skills of children, this study compared the use of high-frequency morpho-syntactic structures among 4-6 years old children with cochlear implants and ty...
